We don’t have to wait more because today is one of the more anticipated events in the fashion world and the Met Gala is giving us heart palpitations with the celebrities glamorous outfits, starting with Amal Clooney, one of the co-chairs of the event, wearing a pants gown with a gorgeous train by Richard Quinn.
“Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” examines the relationship between fashion engagement with devotional practices and traditions of this religion, was the inspiration for the celebrities to look magnificent dresses and head pieces.
The exhibition features ecclesiastical masterworks from the Sistine Chapel sacristy, many of which have never been seen outside the Vatican. This include papal vestments and accessories, such as rings and tiaras.
More than 150 ensembles, primarily womenswear, from the last century, show context of religious artistic production to analyze their connection to the historiography of material Christianity and their contribution to the construction of the Catholic imagination.

“Heavenly Bodies” is gonna be on view from May 10 through October 8, so start planning that trip to the museum. The store will also offer a special edition T-shirt by Versace and fine jewelry by Donna Distefano, whose designs are inspired by a Renaissance papal ring, momento more, and a Virgin and Child pendant in The Met collection, as well as her own signature rosary beads.
